We had a glorious Evensong this Sunday, and we hop We had a glorious Evensong this Sunday, and we hope to celebrate it more often in the future. Our choir, coordinated by Clare and accompanied by Adina, truly moved our souls and we are deeply grateful for their ministry among us.

The spiritual value of Evensong lies in the music that lifts our hearts to heaven, in its emphasis on Holy Scripture and in the space it provides for prayerful reflection.

In his sermon, Father Nevsky reminded us that God meets us with mercy, just as He met the Prophet Isaiah in his vision of the Lord. Filled with God's mercy, we are called to praise Him not only with purified lips, but with hearts wholly given over to Him.

May we dedicate ourselves anew to the service to which we are called, just as Isaiah did when he answered: “Here am I; send me!”

Jesus asked his disciples, 'Who do you say that I Jesus asked his disciples, 'Who do you say that I am?'

In our second Faith Basics session, Fr Nevsky explored the different ways the writers of the New Testament sought to answer this question, with examples from the 'I am' sayings of John's Gospel, the Christological hymn in Philippians 2, the High Priestly imagery of Hebrews and the identification of God and the Lamb in Revelation.

We looked at some of the controversies around the identity of Jesus in the Early Church, and asked ourselves why these matter. We came to see the Bible not just as a text to be studied, but as an invitation into a relationship with Jesus, the Living Word.

Next session is next Sunday, June 7, on the theme of The Spirit and the Church.
Today’s Trinity Sunday sermon, preached by Clare, Today’s Trinity Sunday sermon, preached by Clare, invited us to reflect on one of Christianity’s deepest mysteries through something surprisingly simple: the names of God.

Beginning with God’s self-revelation as “I AM” in the burning bush, Clare explored how the names we find in Scripture help us understand who God is. Jesus is Emmanuel – “God with us” – and the Holy Spirit is our Comforter and Helper, God’s continuing presence in our lives.

Using a beautiful illustration of a father and son connected by a bond of love, we were reminded that the love shared between the Father and the Son reaches out into the world through the Holy Spirit, drawing all of us into God’s life and fellowship.

The Trinity is not merely a doctrine to be explained, but a relationship of love into which we are invited.

And at the heart of today’s Gospel is Christ’s promise:

“Remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Father, Son and Holy Spirit – one God, whose love surrounds us, sustains us, and remains with us always.

Our Faith Basics course continues after our servic Our Faith Basics course continues after our service this Sunday! For the next 3 weeks, Fr Nevsky will cover a different topic central to the Christian life and all are warmly welcome, wherever you are your faith journey.

In this Sunday’s session, Jesus the Word, we’ll ask the question, ‘Who is Jesus?’ and see how the Bible helps us to respond. We’ll explore the rich tapestry of writings that make up the Bible, and how we are to read and understand them. In the great ark of the Scriptural story, we will see that we are not just studying a text, but invited into a relationship and communion with Jesus, the Living Word.

June 14: Baptism, Confirmation, and Open Q & A
